Volunteer at our Social Clubs

Have fun & make a difference!

We are looking for volunteers to support weekly Social Clubs for older neighbours in Maltby, Staveley, Bolsover and to host our new volunteer-led Social Club in Mansfield.

You will help fight loneliness and boost well-being and meaningful connections for older neighbours – and have tons of fun along the way!

About our Social Clubs

b:friend is a charity combatting loneliness and social isolation experienced by older adults. Our Social Clubs are inclusive and friendly spaces where local older neighbours can meet and try an activity to boost body and mind.

About our Social Club members

The people attending b:friend Clubs are older adults who may have issues with mobility, vision and hearing along with hidden disabilities. We expect that all Social Club volunteers speak to, and treat, all our members with dignity and respect at all times.

#2 Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Social Club Leader (Mansfield)

To reach more older neighbours in the community, b:friend introduced volunteer-led Social Clubs as part of the charity’s model. The Clubs are inclusive and friendly spaces where local older adults can meet friends over a cuppa and try a new activity, such as a game or a quiz.

What we are looking for

A volunteer in Mansfield, who is passionate about bringing people together in the community, and are happy to use their creative and interpersonal skills to run a club independently with support from b:friend staff.

Further details

The club sessions are 2 hours long, plus set-up & clear-up time.

The club sessions will run on a weekday, during the hours of 10am and 4pm. Exact venue and timings TBC, and we will work with our volunteer’s availability.

You will be supported by b:friend staff throughout your volunteering. We’ll source refreshments and resources, help with promotion and session planning, and ensure you enjoy the experience as much as the older neighbours.
