I’m Kit, and I’ve been a trustee at b:friend since late 2025.

While I’ve worked in tech businesses all my career, I’ve a long history of being involved in the charity sector. I’ve always been keen to get involved with volunteering, whether as a volunteer mentor to young offenders, a school governor, or a charity trustee. There’s something about being able to support people doing fantastic work that you just don’t get anywhere else.

By day, I’m one half of Relatable Security, a Sheffield-based Information and Cyber Security consultancy. And by night I’m, well, generally the same level of geekery, but I do also like being outside and meeting people, so perhaps that makes me less of a geek?

I volunteered for a role on the Board of Trustees at b:friend for two reasons: first, the cause is brilliant – loneliness, especially in old age, can be devastating; and secondly, the people working and volunteering are amazing – being able to support them as they put in the real effort is a pleasure. Oh, the other Trustees are okay too!
