Claire Rintoul

My name is Claire and I’ve worked in the voluntary sector for my whole career. I love being part of teams working together to make things a little bit better in some way.

My day job is CEO of Sheffcare, a Sheffield charity running nine care homes for older people and people living with dementia, and I’ve previously been CEO at Relate Derby and Southern Derbyshire; Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice; and Peterborough & Fenland Mind, as well as a Non-Executive Director for Nottingham CityCare Partnership. I’m also a Trustee for Forbes Charitable Foundation; we give grants to charities supporting people with learning disabilities.

I’ve always had a passion for volunteering, and my first full-time role was as a volunteer co-ordinator. I’ve volunteered for a brilliant variety of roles: Trustee on charity Boards, mentoring a young person, neighbourhood and victim-offender mediator, NHS volunteering during COVID, and dog walking for the Cinnamon Trust. I joined b:friend as a befriender to an older neighbour in March 2025, and joined the Board in November 2025.

Out of work, I love travel, and I’m happy to go solo if no one is able to come with me. I force myself to the gym and out in the bad weather for walks with my dog, but would rather be on the sofa or eating cake.
