Charity hosts ‘Taskmaster Senior’ for over 170 older neighbours to challenge ageism

b:friend is hosting a series of ‘Taskmaster Senior’ sessions for over 170 older adults between 9th and 13th June to celebrate Age Without Limits Day (June 11th).

The sessions will be a humorous and creative take on the popular TV show, specially designed for older neighbours across 12 of b:friend’s Social Clubs in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The events are funded by the Centre for Ageing Better’s Age Without Limits Day Micro Grant and are part of a national campaign. The Age Without Limits campaign aims to change the way we think about ageing and to help create age-friendly communities that benefit all across the UK.

b:friend CEO, Colette Bunker, said: “Ageism might be dismissed as being harmless, but it can be incredibly damaging not just for the older community but to the wider society too, as negative ideas about getting old seep into everyday life.

“At b:friend, we pride ourselves on challenging stereotypes around ageing and celebrate it with fun and bold projects.

“The team are huge Taskmaster fans, and it’s a perfect session for our Social Clubs to celebrate ageing in the best way—through laughter, teamwork, and a bit of friendly competition.

“Expect fun, light-hearted challenges that showcase the humour, creativity, and quick thinking of our older neighbours.”
