Give the Gift of Friendship to an Older Neighbour this Christmas
No one should have to spend Christmas alone.
🌟Celebrate the season of giving by bringing warmth and joy to the lives of older neighbours who may otherwise spend Christmas alone. Whilst others celebrate with family and friends, many older people dread the festive period, a time that brings heightened feelings of loneliness and isolation for those who have no one to spend it with. The best thing we can give our neighbours is something to look forward to and some time together with friends.
🎄Please help us make this Christmas extra special for older neighbours in our local community.
🎅Can you help with a Christmas donation to b:friend?
Any donation, no matter how big or small can have a huge impact on reducing loneliness in our older neighbours across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Please watch this short video to see the difference you could make.
£10 – could help us buy refreshments at one of our weekly Social Clubs. A place where older neighbours can share fun, laughter, and a warm welcome.
ÂŁ20 – could help us support that first meeting between a new befriender and older neighbour.
£30 – could cover the cost of an activity session at a Social Club such as salsa dancing or tattoo art.
£50 – could pay for 3 older neighbours to take part in an outing to the seaside or green space.
£100 – could provide an isolated older neighbour with a weekly social connection for a whole six months.
❤️Any amount you can give will make a huge difference to ending loneliness amongst older adults.
❄️Loneliness Shouldn’t Be a Part of Growing Old
With your help, we can bring smiles to more faces by connecting more befrienders with lonely older neighbours and keeping our Social Clubs running. Let’s help more people stay socially connected this winter. Everyone deserves a friend, a warm space to drop in, have a cup of tea, and chat with others.
My befriender made a difference in my life, you know because I didn’t want to be here before I met her…it’s changed my life”.
“I couldn’t have wished for anyone nicer; she [my befriender] is one in a million. To be honest I can’t wait from one week to the next until she comes.”
“My doctor told me to come to the club because I was in a bad way after my wife died, and the counselling didn’t help. And do you know, it’s the best thing I could have done. I really enjoy it”
🎄Wishing you all the best for Christmas, and thank you for bringing warmth and joy to our older neighbours.
