B:friend is expanding into new areas in Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire, here we come!

We are delighted to share the news that thanks to generous funding support from our corporate partner, Strata, b:friend is expanding into Nottinghamshire.

The funding will enable our charity to support more lonely and socially isolated older neighbours and create new friendships in the community across Nottinghamshire.

We have recently welcomed to the team our brilliant new Nottinghamshire Befriending Coordinator, Lucindy Acheampomaa.

Lucindy said: “I was born in Ghana but raised in Belgium, but even as a child living in Ghana, I witnessed first-hand how shunned, neglected and isolated older people were, and so when I came across b:friend and what they do, it was like a match made in heaven!

“I grew up not knowing any of my grandparents, and I would be devastated if my children had no relationship with my mom, and similarly me with my grandchildren. So, I am extremely excited about the work we do and how I can contribute and help further our reach.”

Read Lucindy’s bite-sized bio:

  • Started at b:friend: November 2023
  • Loves: I love to watch movies (especially Korean), singing, dancing, good food and spending time with family.
  • Dislikes: Heights and creepy crawlies
  • Best b:friend memory: First day meeting the team over brunch was amazing! Felt so warm and welcoming, and we all just hit it off straight away!
